Chihuahuas 9, Round Rock Express 3

Key Statistics: CF Clay Dungan 3-for-4, 2 R, BB, 2B; 1B Luis Campusano 2-for-5, 2 RBI; 2B Nate Mondou 2-for-5, RBI; C Rodolfo Durán 2-for-5, SS Mason McCoy 2-for-5, R; LHP Jackson Wolf 4.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, BB, 3 K; RHP Manuel Castro (W, 2-0) 1.1 IP, BB, 2 K; RHP Bryan Hoeing 2 IP, H, K; RHP Sean Reynolds IP, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas had 14 hits to defeat the Express on the road. … Center fielder Clay Dungan had a nice night with a double and two singles. He also drew a walk and scored two runs. The 29-year-old has been a valuable contributor since joining the Padres organization prior to last season. The Muncie, Indiana, native has connected on a career-high 11 homers, and his .819 OPS is his highest since the 2019 season, when he played in the now-eliminated Pioneer League. … Shortstop Mason McCoy singled twice and scored a run. The 30-year-old infielder and owner of a 40-man roster spot limped through a brutal July. In 22 games, McCoy hit a paltry .193/.280/.241, that even includes a pair of two-hit games to conclude the month. McCoy’s calling card is infield defense, and he’s still played well at short. With Tyler Wade’s roster status in limbo, McCoy is likely the next man up, should the Padres need a middle infielder. … Jackson Wolf allowed three runs, but a pair of Nate Mondou errors made them unearned. He allowed seven hits, walking one and striking out four. After a rough stretch in June, the 26-year-old has allowed just two earned runs over his last 21.2 innings, with a strong 20:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in that span. … Manuel Castro took over for Wolf and recorded four outs to earn his second PCL victory. He walked one and struck out two. Castro has not allowed a run in seven of his eight outings since joining the Chihuahuas in late June. In 8.1 innings of work in the PCL, opposing batters are hitting just .160 against him.

Frisco RoughRiders 3, Missions 1

Key Statistics: CF Kai Murphy 2-for-4; LF Albert Fabian 1-for-2, 2 BB; LHP Jagger Haynes 2 IP, H, 3 BB; RHP Jose Geraldo (L, 2-2), 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 K; LHP Austin Krob IP, BB

Prospect Watch: The Missions’ offense never got cooking, as they managed just five singles in the loss. … Center fielder Kai Murphy had a pair of those hits out of the leadoff spot. Murphy had an excellent month of June, but his production cratered in July, when he hit just .176/.256/.200 with two doubles. The left-handed hitting outfielder has a wRC+ of 88 in his first season at the Double-A level. … Lefty Jagger Haynes had an ominous night, as he lasted just two innings. He came out for the third but after a lengthy conversation, he left the game with the trainer. As of press time, there is no update on his status. He tossed two innings and walked three, but was able to escape without allowing a run. The 22-year-old has thrown 89.1 innings this season, pitching to a 3.93 ERA. … Austin Krob, who was demoted to San Antonio in a bevy of organizational roster moves (more on that below) tossed a scoreless inning, issuing one walk. The 25-year-old began the season in the Chihuahuas rotation but struggled to consistently throw strikes and was moved to the bullpen. The loss of command has been a concern, as the Iowa native has been a consistent strike-thrower since joining the organization. Last season in San Antonio, Krob walked 8% of the batters he faced. During his time in El Paso, that number doubled. For now, he will look to regain his form in the Missions’ bullpen.

Great Lakes Loons 9, TinCaps 2

Key Statistics: SS Ryan Jackson 2-for-4, R, BB; 2B Rosman Verdugo 2-for-4, RBI; C Brendan Durfee, 2-for-4; RHP Isaiah Lowe (L, 3-9) 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K; RHP Nick Wissman IP, 2 H, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Loons jumped out to a lead in the first and added five runs in the seventh to pull away from the TinCaps in front of 7,520 fans at Parkview Field. … Righty Isaiah Lowe’s inconsistent 2025 campaign continued with another rough outing. On a positive note, he completed five innings. However, he allowed nine baserunners, including four walks. The 22-year-old has a 5.54 ERA in 18 starts this season with a concerning 1.60 WHIP. The righty has shown the stuff to start, but he has taken a significant step back in every aspect of his game this year. … Ryan Jackson had a pair of singles and drove in a run. With Leo De Vries and Brandon Butterworth out of the organization, the former USC infielder figures to slot in at shortstop for Fort Wayne down the stretch. The 24-year-old doesn’t possess a lot of power, but he has a great eye at the plate and makes consistent contact. After walking in 19% of his plate appearances with the Storm, he’s drawn a free pass in 15% of his plate appearances in the Midwest League. He’s also struck out in just 12% of his plate appearances while delivering offensive production 15% above the league average. Jackson may not have a ton of upside, but he’s a capable hitter with the ability to play all over the diamond.

Storm 3, Inland Empire 66ers 2

Key Statistics: CF Cardell Thibodeaux 2-for-5, 2 RBI; 3B Kerrington Cross 1-for-3, R, BB; C Carlos Rodriguez 2-for-4, 2B; DH Kavares Tears 2-for-4, 2B; RHP Maikel Miralles 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K; LHP Igor Gil (W, 3-0) IP, BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The Storm got a walkoff single to beat the 66ers and move back into a tie with them at the top of the division standings. … The winning hit came off the bat of center fielder Cardell Thibodeaux, who made his professional debut Friday night. Thibodeaux, 21, was the Padres’ 16th-round pick in July, out of Southern University. The Louisiana native had a monster year for the Jaguars, hitting .435/.541/.828, with 18 homers. He signed for $150,000 after a strong showing in the Draft League. … Third baseman Kerrington Cross also made his professional debut Friday and singled and drew a walk. Cross was the Padres’ seventh-rounder last month, signing an under-slot deal for $20,000 after earning Big 12 Player of the Year this season. His .526 on-base percentage was the eighth-highest in the nation. … Righty Maikel Miralles pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out three. The 20-year-old righty had not allowed a run in his previous three outings. … Lefty Igor Gil pitched a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to notch his fourth win of the season. The 24-year-old has a 3.18 ERA for the Storm this season, his first in full-season ball.
